Public Works Services Announcement 3-17-2020
In order to protect the Borough public works staff due to the Coronavirus and COVID-19 the following changes are being made effective March 17, 2020
At this time, no changes have been made to the Recycling schedule or trash collection schedule. Any changes to these collection schedules will be distributed as they occur.
PLEASE NOTE: All recycling containers will be checked as usual, if there are ANY items in the red recycling container that are not recyclable, the cart will be tagged and you will have to remove the non-recyclable items. The employees of the DPW will not be sorting through any containers. Please be aware of ALL material you discard, never discard any bodily fluid soiled tissues, napkins, paper towels, etc. into the recycling container. This is to ensure the safety of our employees.
The Public Works yard will be closed to all visitors except essential personnel. The yard will remain closed to visitors until further notice. Please contact the DPW by phone at 856-783-4648, or through the borough web site information portal at www.somerdale-nj.com
Our DPW employees are unable to work from home and are hereto maintain vital services to our community. Please be aware of any and all debris you place at the curb our DPW employees may be in contact. In this current emergency we expect our services will be needed, and possibly increasing, as residents may be spending more time at home. We do not anticipate any interruption in services and we are working on contingency plans in the event that our staff may be affected by this virus outbreak.
Residents who experience a sewer backup during normal business hours (7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday) should call the DPW at 56-783-4648 and 856-924-0149 for any after-hours emergencies. Personnel will respond to these emergencies on a case by case basis.
